Gavin is one of Australia’s most distinguished exhibitors and judges, known for successes in the world or roses in South Australia, nationally and internationally. He is: a Life Member of The Rose Society of South Australia; holder of the nation’s highest rose honours, The Australian Rose Award, recognising an outstanding contribution; and a recipient of the Stewart Memorial Plaque, awarded to an Australian or New Zealander for an extraordinary contribution to the rose. Gavin is also the Vice President, Australasia, of the World Federation of Rose Societies.

While Gavin is a leader at national and international levels, his commitment to the rose is embedded in grass roots activities. He exhibits at country, state and national shows and advocates enthusiastically for each. He is also regarded highly for the support and guidance he provides to all South Australian members, whether their interests centre on growing roses, exhibiting, supporting the Society, or a combination of these.
